IU East is dedicated to giving student flexibility for quality learning.
Currently, we offering the following methods of distance course offerings: |
Web-Only - These
classes can be taken entirely online. Faculty members use a web-based
course management system (Oncourse or Angel) to administer course content, discussions,
interactions, and resources. Required physical attendance is minimal
and may be none at all.
CHOICES @ EAST (Degree Completion Programs) - Offered in the areas of Techincal & Professional Writing, Communication, Finance, and General Business. These junior/senior level courses are offered to students who have already completed the appropriate general education and distributon requirements. On-campus participation, depending on courses needed, is minimal. Please contact Tom Avery for additional information.
Hybrid - These classes mix traditional on-campus lectures with online resources, discussions, and activities. At least 50% of the course content and activities may be conducted and delivered online. Physical attendance is required but not as frequent as traditional on-campus classes.
VIC - (Virtual Indiana Classroom) These classes
can be taken via video conferencing. Most classes are augmented
with online resources, discussions, and activities. Students need
to travel to a nearby Indiana University VIC classroom to attend
the classes. Indiana University operates VIC classrooms throughout
the state of Indiana.
IU Continuing Studies- Indiana University Online lists many of the classes being offered online at the various Indiana University campuses throughout the state. Please contact Tom Avery for the proper procedure for the campus originating the course.
ICN - Indiana College Network is made up of over 40 colleges and universities throughout the state of Indiana offering distance education classes. Through the ICN network, students at member institutions can take distance classes offered by other member institutions while maintaining enrollment and, in most cases, financial aid at their home institution. Please contact Tom Avery for specific requirements, registration instructions, and course transferability to IU East.
